Project Africa
The Foundation has a keen interest in supporting underserved communities across the globe. Learn more about our current priorities.
The Davis Family Foundation will continue the work of its predecessor and partner organization, the Akwaaba Company, to raise funds and collect supplies to benefit the community of Gomoa Obuasi in Ghana, West Africa.
The Davis family began this work in 1995 under the leadership of Drs. Mark and Evia Davis, Senior. The Davises began by organizing Akwaaba into a federally recognized, non-profit (501(c)3) organization. With support from friends, local churches, and organizations, including the New Sunny Mount Baptist Church, the St. Louis and University City Public School Districts, and even contributions from the British government, the Davises were able to provide school supplies to children and families, construct a maternity clinic for expectant mothers, and renovate the local schoolhouse. Their work was featured in local and national publications, including the St. Louis Argus, St. Louis American, and Jet Magazine.
The Davis Family Foundation will continue the work laid by the Akwaaba organization by working towards raising donations for school supplies, uniforms, and health and wellness supplies for women, children, and expectant mothers.
